Borough Burbling’s 24 November

The weekend pennant teams had a rare occurrence on Saturday; they all won.  This forced the President to put his hand in the club’s pocket.  Hopefully this can continue as there is always a good atmosphere around the club.

The One’s stayed on top of the ladder with a 3 winning rinks, 11 shot victory at Square.  The Two’s got their season underway with a solid win at home; the Road warriors (5’s) had a very good 5 shot win at Campbells Creek and the sixes had a solid win at home against Woodbury.  This week the One’s have a rest, the Two’s travel to Bendigo and the Sixes go to Bridgewater.  The Road warriors are at home to Marong.  Apparently the Sixes were offered some of the resting players but they did not want to change a winning combination too much.  Who was the person muttering that if they weren’t good enough to be picked in the sixes initially, then they weren’t going to come down and take somebody else’s well deserved spot!

Midweek pennant continued with Round 2 being played on Monday.  The 3’s and 5’s found the trip away too much, although there wasn’t much in the Div 3 result at the end.  The One’s were at home to Kangaroo Flat in a top of the table clash.  Below is a quote from the Bendigo Advertiser:

Eaglehawk dominated all three rinks to turn the match of the round against the Roos into a fizzer.

The closest of the three rinks was Kaye Rowe’s 25-15 win over Susan Howes.

This week the One’s go to Bendigo, the 3’s are at home to Bendigo East and the 5’s travel to Castlemaine.  You are on the old carpet folks…

In other news, Pam Hughes and Wayne Wilkins lost their Mixed pairs quarter final to eventual champions Kevin Anderson and Cass Millerick.  They were not disgraced in any way going down 6/16.

A big thank you goes to all of the members who helped out on Sunday at Bunnings Epsom.  This is a good fundraiser for the club.  Next Monday the Police Bowls Club return for their championships.  They are playing until Thursday so there will be no Scope and no Jackpot pairs.  We really appreciate their coming back to Eaglehawk for the week.  They are a great bunch of people.

Go the Borough!
