Borough Burblings 8 November

To say the least, it was a very disappointing round last week. Every team went down and not many rinks actually got up.

On Saturday the Premiers went down to last years premiers by 36 shots with all rinks losing. Three of the rinks were pretty close but the other one had a bad day. Bendigo has had a good start to the season so it was always going to be a tough match. The Ones were at Castlemaine who had a good sprinkling of premier class players and lost by 25 shots with only one rink getting up. The Threes had a similar result, one rink up and a 22 shot loss. The Sixers were the closest to the mark only going down by six shots and had one rink up.

On Monday the sorry tale continued. The Ones were outplayed by a good Inglewood team and went down by 25 shots with all rinks losing. One rink was very close but the others were not good enough. Inglewood are the current ladder leaders. The Threes were thumped – all rinks and 47 shots. The Sixers, like their weekend counterparts, were the ones who were the closest, going down by 8 shots and with one rink up.

On Saturday, Armistice day, we have three teams at home. The Premiers are hosting Moama. Moama has had a scratchy start to the season only getting their first win last week. They will want to continue that form – lets hope that they will return over the Murray a trifle disappointed.

Also at home, The Ones play North Bendigo and the Sixers play Heathcote. The Ones are at home due to one of the North greens being out of action. We haven’t played against North for a few years and they have returned to the Bendigo playing area second level after winning the Div 3 pennant last year. The threes are off to Heathcote.

On Monday, the Mid-week ones are at Golden Square. Our team will need to pull their socks up a bit as Square are still a pretty strong side. The Threes are at home to Bendigo East and the Sixers host Castlemaine.
