Borough Burblings 13 December

There was a more encouraging round of results over the last weekend. On Saturday the Premiers scored a solid 21 shot / 3 rinks up win over Inglewood at Inglewood. This win took them to sixth spot on the ladder and still in touch with the top four. The Ones broke through for their first win of the season, also with a 21 shot / 3 rinks up win, though against ladder leaders Marong. The Three’s had a poor day against Castlemaine and the Sixers went down by 12 shots at Marong.

On Monday the pre-christmas season finished with losses to the Three’s who sit in 7th spot and the Sixers who sit in last place on the ladder. The Ones had a win for the ages against South. Going into the round, South were on the top and we were in the middle of the ladder. As the game developed it looked that South would continue their winning form; two rinks were close but one rink was well down. Kaye Rowe’s rink got to 0/19 before they won an end, then recovered to be 11/22 before storming home to win 27/22 – an incredible comeback. With S Carn’s team going down by 8 shots, it was level on the scoreboard at the start of the last end for S Piercy’s rink. It was tight throughout the end, but a drive by the South skipper took out their close bowl and we won the game and match by 4 shots with the last bowl not having to be played. That win sees Eaglehawk in 4th position on the ladder.

This Saturday is the last round before christmas for weekend pennant. At home the premiers host South and the Sixers play Golden Square. The One’s are at White Hills and the Three’s are off to South Bendigo.

Please don’t forget the BBQ tea on Saturday after pennant. It is Kym Schumacher’s last game before he heads off interstate.
